2016 Honda Accord Touring Up for Grabs in New Contest

TORRANCE, California — A 2016 Honda Accord Touring sedan is the grand prize in the #OpentheCheer Twitter contest supporting the automaker's annual Happy Honda Days campaign, which runs through December 29.

Honda says this makes it the first vehicle manufacturer to use the Twitter "Instant Win" feature in a promotional campaign.

Instant Win allows contest sponsors to program in advance exactly when prizes will be awarded, with entrants immediately receiving a message letting them know whether or not they won. Sponsors can also define how many times a user may enter, configure personalized messages for winners, and set up a final sweepstakes.

In the case of Honda's contest, there will be 30 instant winners (one per day) who will each receive a digital smartwatch valued at $400, and 300 instant winners (10 per day) who will each get a $20 gift code, which can be redeemed online.

The grand sweepstakes prize, to be awarded on or about January 4, is a 2016 Honda Accord Touring sedan, valued at $35,415.

To enter, participants need to retweet a Tweet that will be sent by Honda each day during the promotion. Each retweet — limited to one per day per person — becomes an entry in both the instant-win game and in the final sweepstakes random drawing.

As a bonus, for each retweet Honda will donate $1 to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, up to a total of $100,000.

Complete rules and more information can be found at the contest's Web page.

In November, Honda kicked off the annual Happy Honda Days sales event with a series of television commercials, print and radio ads and a social media campaign.

Happy Honda Days features special finance offers and lease pricing on such models as the 2015 Honda Accord and Civic coupe and sedan, Odyssey minivan and the CR-V compact SUV.

Edmunds says: Those who don't yet have a Twitter account might want to open one now for the chance to win a 2016 Honda Accord Touring.
