BRIDGEPORT, Connecticut — BMW of Bridgeport is raffling a weekend-long test-drive in a 2016 BMW 750i to anyone who likes and shares a 90-second video it created for its Facebook page and YouTube Channel that shows off the $110,000 car.
The video highlights various appointments, including power side window shades, front massage seats and hand-gesture technology.
The dealership will announce the winner on August 2.
"A lot of people know about the 3 Series but we wanted to raise awareness on the 7 Series, so we came up with this video-sharing idea and added the raffle because we wanted to make it fun," Obaid Malick, the dealership's marketing manager, told Edmunds.
Another impetus was the 2017 models are arriving and he wanted to move the 2016s to make room for the new inventory.
The video reached nearly 10,000 nearby residents in eight days, the majority of it organically, with customers sharing it with friends who may not have a relationship with the dealership, Malick explained.
"Our phone is ringing constantly with people wanting to know how they can win the test-drive," Malick said.
Another unexpected outcome was the website clicks to its 7 Series inventory jumped dramatically, he said.
"It's not even been two weeks and we already know we want to do a similar raffle in the future, probably the X5 Hybrid that is fun to drive but not a lot of people know about it," Malick said.
