WASHINGTON — Jaguar Land Rover North America is recalling 65,352 vehicles, including the 2014-'16 Land Rover Range Rover Sport SUV, because the doors may unlatch unexpectedly, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The 2013-'16 Land Rover Range Rover SUV is also included in the recall.
"If a vehicle door unlatches, the distraction may increase the risk of a crash and/or a vehicle occupant may fall out of the vehicle if they are not wearing a seatbelt, increasing their risk of injury," said NHTSA in its recall summary.
The recall is based on customer reports of the problem. There are no accidents or injuries linked to the recall, the automaker told federal safety regulators.
The affected Ranger Rover SUVs were built from July 26, 2012 to March 9, 2015. The affected Range Rover Sport SUVs were built from February 18, 2013 to March 5, 2015.
Edmunds says: Owners should wait for their official recall notice and then schedule a service appointment. But if you have an immediate concern, it's best to contact your dealer now.
