2025 McLaren 750S

The McLaren 750S is the successor to the 720S mid-engine sports car, available as a fixed-roof coupe or as the drop-top 750S Spider. Its turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 makes 740 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. By itself, that might not seem all that impressive in today's world. But consider that the 750S only weighs about 3,200 pounds, which is exceptional for a modern supercar. McLaren says the 750S can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.7 seconds. It's also among the best-handling cars on the road, thanks to its ultra-light and stiff carbon-fiber monocoque chassis and hydraulically linked adaptive suspension. The 750S was introduced for 2024, so changes are minimal for 2025.

Naturally, there are a few cars from Italy that serve as 750S alternatives. The new Lamborghini Temerario, the replacement for the Huracan, uses a twin-turbocharged V8 hybrid drivetrain that makes a staggering 907 hp combined. The Ferrari 296 GTB, with its twin-turbo V6 hybrid setup, isn't far behind with its 819 hp. If you have a six-figure budget but not quite Ferrari, Lamborghini or McLaren money, you might also consider the Porsche 911 GT3 RS or Chevrolet Corvette Z06.

One of the perks of being the middle child in a supercar maker's lineup is the technology from the tippy top of the performance spectrum trickles down to you. The 2025 McLaren 750S enjoys several upgrades borrowed from the brand's Ultimate Series. For example, the lightweight pistons in the 750S' V8 are the same ones used in the 765LT, the limited-production "Longtail" supercar based on the 720S. Its available track brake upgrade uses monobloc calipers and ceramic brake discs derived from those of the McLaren Senna. Lastly, though they share no parts, the 750S sports a center exit exhaust inspired by the legendary McLaren P1.
