Dodge Dart SRT Coming in Late 2016

AUBURN HILLS, Michigan The debut of the high-performance Dodge Dart SRT, a turbocharged, all-wheel-drive model, is one of the highlights of the Dodge future-product portfolio.

The Dart SRT takes aim at the Subaru WRX and WRX STI, which were redesigned for the 2015 model year.

The Dart will be redesigned in mid-2016, at which time the SRT model will join the lineup.

A Dodge Journey SRT will hit showrooms in early 2017, according to Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, which laid out the future-product plans for its various brands on Tuesday.

Dodge is renewing its emphasis on performance to separate itself further from the Chrysler brand. The Dodge Avenger and Dodge Grand Caravan are departing from the lineup. Production of the Avenger sedan ended this spring. The Grand Caravan minivan will be discontinued in early 2016.

The redesigned Dodge Charger is coming this fall, while the SRT Viper gets a freshening in mid-2015. The Dodge Durango SUV gets a face-lift in early 2017.

A new subcompact sedan/hatchback will join the Dodge portfolio in early 2018 and the redesigned Dodge Challenger and Charger will debut in mid-2018.

Edmunds says: The Dodge brand is getting ready to flex its muscle, something that should please performance-oriented car shoppers.
