2016 Mercedes-AMG GT S Priced at $130,825

MONTVALE, New Jersey — The top-of-the-line 2016 Mercedes-AMG GT S sports car arrives at U.S. Mercedes dealerships in April, with a price tag of $130,825. Pricing includes a $925 destination charge.

A long list of standard features includes napa leather, AMG adaptive suspension, LED headlights and a Burmester surround sound system.

The GT S is equipped with a 4.0-liter bi-turbo V8 engine that delivers 503 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque.

A base 2017 Mercedes-AMG GT model arrives at dealerships in spring 2016. The GT delivers 456 hp and 443 lb-ft of torque.

Mercedes-Benz said more information on pricing and equipment levels for both models will be available closer to their respective launch dates.

The Mercedes-AMG GT targets the Aston Martin V8 Vantage, Audi R8 V8 and Porsche 911 Turbo. The 2016 GT is a follow-up, but not a direct replacement for, the Mercedes-AMG SLS gullwing sports car.

Edmunds says: The Mercedes-AMG GT S undercuts the Porsche 911 Turbo by $20,000, something that should catch the eye of sports car buyers who want serious performance and value.
