DETROIT — General Motors is recalling 202,115 2002-'04 Saturn Vue SUVs to fix an ignition key cylinder problem, the automaker said on Friday.
"The ignition key can possibly be removed when the vehicle is not in the 'off'' position," GM said in a statement.
It added: "Until recall repairs have been performed, it is very important before exiting the vehicle for customers to make sure the vehicle is in 'Park' or in the case of a manual transmission to put the transmission into reverse gear and set the parking brake."
GM said it is aware of two crashes and one injury related to the recall.
GM dealers will inspect for key pullout or key binding, and, if necessary, replace the ignition cylinder and key set. A date has not been set for the recall. Owners can contact GM at 1-800-553-6000.
The Saturn Vue and the Saturn brand have been discontinued by GM, but dealers can repair the vehicles.
Edmunds says: If you own a 2002-'04 Saturn Vue, follow the above instructions until you can have the repairs done at your local GM dealer.
