Dealers Open Order Books for 2015 Chevrolet Silverado Custom

CHICAGO Chevrolet dealers are taking orders now for the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado Custom pickup truck, a new model that offers buyers a "well-equipped truck at an affordable price," according to GM.

A two-wheel-drive Silverado Custom with a 5.3-liter V8 engine and special carpeting starts at $35,015, including a $1,195 destination charge.

A similarly equipped 4x4 Silverado Custom starts at $38,995, including shipping.

In comparison, a base 2015 Silverado 1500 with a regular cab and standard box starts at $27,300, including shipping.

The Silverado Custom is based on the double-cab Silverado LS and adds 20-inch aluminum wheels, chrome bumpers, a body-colored top cap above the front bumper and chrome mirror caps and door handles.

"The economic recovery has led to booming sales of high-end pickups like the Silverado High Country," said Sandor Piszar, Chevrolet Trucks marketing director, in a statement. "But there are also millions of customers in the heart of the market who want a great-looking, well-equipped truck at an affordable price."

Key Silverado rivals include the Ford F-150, Nissan Titan, Ram 1500 and Toyota Tundra.

Edmunds says: This latest version of the Silverado should punch all the right buttons for lots of truck shoppers.
