DALLAS — The 2014 Tesla Model X and Model S will get high-speed wireless Internet connectivity, thanks to a new partnership between the automaker and AT&T.

Tesla is the California-based electric-car manufacturer. The Model S sedan is on sale now, while Model X crossover deliveries begin later this year.

"AT&T's advanced and reliable wireless connectivity will help Tesla continue to deliver a cutting-edge ownership experience," said Elon Musk, Tesla CEO, in a statement.

The two companies have entered into a multi-year agreement which allows "current and future Tesla vehicles in North America" to have wireless broadband access.

The AT&T connectivity will power Tesla's remote engine diagnostics, telematics and infotainment features, including Internet radio, Web browsing, live traffic, weather and navigation, all accessed through Tesla's 17-inch touchscreen display.

Tesla did not say how much the new connectivity will add to the price of its vehicles.

Edmunds says: Tesla's current and future vehicles will become even more advanced, something that car shoppers in this segment are demanding.
