The dealership, in conjunction with the Ford Focus on Child Hunger campaign, is hosting a peanut-butter drive to support North Valley Food Bank, which seeks kid-friendly foods to feed the needy over summer break, when children lose access to school nutrition programs.
When the drive ends June 13, the Transit Connect will transport the offerings to the food bank.
The peanut butter drive unexpectedly served as a platform for Whitefish Ford to introduce itself to its community, Sales Manager Justin Rody told Edmunds.
The dealership changed ownership in December and through various media outlets and a display at a local grocery store, Whitefish Ford explained its involvement with the food drive.
"We had at least one person in this week dropping off peanut butter who mentioned having never been in Whitefish Ford before," Rody said. "It was good to see that."
This drive is part of a five-state campaign in the Pacific Northwest by Ford dealers to support their community food banks and make sure no child goes hungry this summer.
Started in 2013, the Ford Focus on Child Hunger has provided more than 1 million meals and snacks to children in the Pacific Northwest. It collected more than 30,000 pounds of peanut butter last year.
"By participating in this, we show that we value our community and are happy to help any way we can," Rody said.
