Volvo Aims To Redefine Luxury Service With Lifetime Parts-and-Labor Warranty

ROCKLEIGH, New Jersey Volvo Cars of North America said it is redefining luxury service at Volvo dealerships with the debut on Wednesday of a new lifetime parts-and-labor warranty for all Volvo vehicles serviced after the factory warranty.

"Volvo customers can expect to pay once and never pay again for replacement Volvo parts and labor, excluding accessories and wear items, for as long as they own their car," the automaker said in a statement.

The new warranty beefs up the Volvo Service Advantage program.

In addition to the lifetime parts-and-labor warranty, customers will receive free software updates, complimentary diagnostics, personal service, alternative transportation and a complimentary car wash.

Luxury automakers have been upping the ante when it comes to the service experience.
Last August, Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced the "Infinite Mile Warranty" for the Tesla Model S electric sedan.

The Model S drive unit warranty was increased to match that of the battery pack.

"That means the 85 kWh Model S now has an eight-year, infinite-mile warranty on both the battery pack and the drive unit," Musk said in a blog posting. "There is also no limit on the number of owners during the warranty period."

Several luxury automakers, including Cadillac, offer courtesy transportation if a vehicle requires warranty repairs.

Edmunds says: Volvo said its new lifetime parts-and-labor warranty is a "best in class" offer, as it strives to attract new buyers and keep Volvo owners in the fold.
