2017 Mazda CX-5 Takes Off on Cross-Country Test-Drive Tour

Consumers will get the chance to try out the all-new 2017 Mazda CX-5 as it passes through town on a unique cross-country test-drive tour.

The "Experience the All-New 2017 Mazda CX-5" event is a 15-city nationwide trek to promote the compact SUV's revamped styling, extra cargo space and upgraded interior. The tour began in Los Angeles and will proceed through Texas, Florida, Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio, Illinois, Minnesota, Colorado and Washington before concluding this August in San Francisco.

Along the way, licensed drivers over the age of 18 will be able to check out the CX-5 at Intercept stops, or traditional ride-and-drive opportunities, and at Mastercraft events, in which Mazda owners will be invited for a more in-depth look at the "craft" behind the vehicle and the brand. Mastercraft events are scheduled for Los Angeles, Philadelphia and Chicago. More details can be found at the CX-5 Experience website.

"Our goal is to engage our audience in an impactful way, in a location that's convenient and familiar to them," said Russell Wager, vice president of marketing for Mazda North American Operations, in a statement. "By allowing our customers to engage with our brand and our vehicles in an environment that is fun and interactive, we create the opportunity for potential customers to experience our personality as a brand. Ultimately, we hope they have such a great time during their drive experience that they consider joining the Mazda family when searching for their next vehicle."

The second-generation 2017 Mazda CX-5 has been totally redesigned, inside and out. The exterior is sleeker and more aggressive-looking than the previous model, and the cabin has been treated to a number of updated luxury touches, as well as a host of new technology features.

Special attention was paid to ride quality, with a 15 percent stiffer chassis, improved suspension and the first North American application of Mazda's G-Vectoring Control in the all-wheel-drive models. These changes, combined with greater sound insulation, provide both a quieter, more comfortable ride and better steering feel.

Priced from $24,985, including a $940 destination charge, the 2017 CX-5 is on sale now at Mazda dealers.
