COSTA MESA, California — Car shoppers got their first official look at the 2017 Karma Revero, a luxury plug-in hybrid sedan that's the reincarnation of the Fisker Karma, as the California automaker released the car's first image on Thursday.
Karma Automotive did not release pricing information, although the Revero is expected to cost $100,000 or more.
Existing Karma owners will be given "exclusive access" to a website that gives them the chance to reserve a Revero before the general public on September 8, the company said in a statement.
"Each Revero is truly unique, with individually crafted details like hand-painted badges on the front and rear of every vehicle," Karma Automotive said.
The badges are a "small but symbolic statement" of the Revero's exclusivity, it noted.
While technical details were not disclosed, Karma Automotive said the Revero will feature a solar roof that will "create enough energy to power the car."
Other details include a redesigned infotainment system and "super-charging capabilities."
"Serving a mass market is not, and never will be, our purpose," said Jim Taylor, Karma Automotive's chief revenue officer, in a statement. "The Revero is for a discerning group of individuals who desire beautiful, clean vehicles and a memorable ownership experience."
Other launch dealers are:
- Karma Atlanta
- Karma Burr Ridge (greater Chicago)
- Karma Ft. Worth
- Karma Miami
- Karma Palm Beach
- Karma of The Main Line (greater Philadelphia)
In addition, Karma is working on the development of its first Orange County Brand Experience Center. No details about that center have been released.
Edmunds says: The Fisker Karma gets a second chance at life with an updated version called the Karma Revero, which gives shoppers in the luxury plug-in hybrid category another intriguing choice.
