DETROIT — GM began shipping the highly anticipated 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 coupe to dealerships on Monday, saying the performance car should be in the hands of some early customers later this week.
The cars are being shipped a few weeks earlier than originally anticipated.
They are built at GM's Bowling Green Assembly Plant.
"It truly is an amazing car and we're thrilled to get them into the hands of our eager customers," said Jeff Lamarche, plant manager, in a statement.
Shipments of the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 convertible are expected to begin in early 2015. This marks the first time since 1963 that the Z06 is available as a convertible.
This is the first Z06 to offer an optional eight-speed paddle-shift automatic transmission and a removable roof panel.
Pricing for the Corvette Z06 coupe starts at $78,995, including a $995 destination charge, while the convertible model starts at $83,995, including shipping.
