DEARBORN, Michigan Ford is recalling 386 2014 Ford Focus compact cars and 2015 Lincoln MKC small crossovers to fix a problem that may lead to an engine stall without warning, the automaker told Edmunds.

One 2014 Ford Escape SUV is also included in the recall.

The recall is expected to begin this week, according to Kelli Felker, a Ford spokeswoman.

"In the affected vehicles, a crack may develop between the fuel pump filter body and the filter cap which may result in low fuel pressure," said Ford in a statement. "Low fuel pressure may cause malfunction indicator light illumination, extended crank, no start, loss of power or engine stall.

"An engine stall without warning may increase the risk of a crash."

Ford said it is not aware of any accidents or injuries linked to the recall.

The affected 2014 Focus cars were built at the Michigan Assembly Plant from May 1, 2014 through May 24, 2014. The 2015 MKC crossovers were built at the Louisville Assembly Plant from June 4, 2014 through July 7, 2014. The single 2014 Escape was built at the Louisville Assembly Plant on June 6, 2014.

Dealers will replace the fuel delivery module. The recall is expected to begin this week. Owners can contact Ford at 1-800-392-3673.

No information about the recalls has been posted on the Web site of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration which oversees vehicle recalls in the U.S.

Edmunds says: If you own one of these vehicles, it's time to contact your dealer.
