TAYLOR, Michigan — Taylor Chevrolet is hosting "Cruze in for a Cause" on August 25 to benefit the Taylor Fire Department and its three station houses, while encouraging customers to come to the showroom to see a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze.
The event runs from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and includes a car wash by local firefighters, a celebrity dunk tank, appearances by local radio personalities, fire truck demonstrations, sweatshirt giveaways, rib samples from Famous Dave's, and hamburgers, hot dogs and ice cream.
"We'll be accepting donations because we want to help our three fire stations," Mark Montante, general manager, told Edmunds.
The money the dealership raises will help the department replace the threadbare furniture at all three of its facilities.
"We were there for a benefit in April, and I noticed all of their furniture is worn out," Montante said. "When you think about how this is a second home to them because they work 24-hour shifts, you want better for these heroes."
Taylor Chevrolet will match up to $2,000 in donations.
As further enticement, an in-store kiosk will let guests register to win a three-night stay at the Great Wolf Lodge plus a $500 gift card.
"I'm sure we'll get some residual sales from this event and draw attention to the Cruze but what really matters is we help the firefighters," Montante said.
Edmunds says: A dealership hopes to be a hero to local firefighters.
