NEW YORK — TriHonda Dealers, made up of 61 Honda dealerships in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, have discovered a sure-fire way to get shoppers into a showroom. They are hosting Selfie for a Civic sweepstakes, with a free 2015 Honda Civic LX Sedan as its grand prize.
Patrons are invited into their local dealership to snap a "selfie" with a Civic in the showroom, which they must post on Instagram or Twitter with the hashtag #SelfieForACivic.
Three finalists will be chosen randomly and given tickets to a Brooklyn Nets game at the Barclays Center, where the winner will be selected at halftime, said Christopher Berger, vice president of integrated production director at Publicis Kaplan Thaler, which put together the campaign with digital agency HelloWorld.
Berger believes Selfie for a Civic offers more benefits than attracting shoppers to the showroom.
The social-sharing aspect of it raises awareness of the dealerships and their products, putting their names in front of new audiences, particularly a younger generation that's embraced the selfie craze, Berger told Edmunds.
"You get people to share a message about your dealership in a way that's not forced and it's a positive sentiment," he said.
More than 1,000 people have entered the sweepstakes, which runs through March 15.
"We feel Selfie for a Civic is a way to show people that Honda is a part of their community," Berger said.
Edmunds says: Getting shoppers into the showroom while sharing socially about the dealership and its cars is a sure-fire recipe for future sales.
