WASHINGTON — Mitsubishi Motors North America is recalling 82,436 vehicles, including the 2015-'16 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport SUV, for a powertrain problem, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
"The affected vehicles are equipped with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) that, in certain driving conditions, may cause a delay in the vehicle accelerating," NHTSA said in its recall summary. "A hesitation during acceleration can increase the risk of a crash."
A Mitsubishi spokesman did not respond immediately to a query from Edmunds asking if any injuries or accidents are linked to the recall.
Edmunds says: If you own one of these vehicles, it's time to make a service appointment with your Mitsubishi dealer.
