AUBURN HILLS, Michigan — Fiat-Chrysler is recalling an estimated 16,114 2015 Ram ProMaster cargo vans in the U.S. because they may have been inadvertently equipped with ignition components that are subject to loss of electrical contact, the automaker said.
"This condition was traced to a supplier's manufacturing process and, although unlikely, may cause intermittent power loss to the vehicle's electrical systems," Fiat-Chrysler said in a statement.
There are no injuries or accidents linked to the recall, the company said.
No information about the recall has been posted on the Web site of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which oversees vehicle safety in the U.S.
Edmunds says: Fiat-Chrysler said the problem may be fixed by re-cycling the ignition key, but it urges owners of these vans to heed the instructions in their recall notices and schedule a service appointment with their dealer.
