NEW YORK — GM has partnered with Saks Fifth Avenue to create a special-edition 2014 Cadillac ELR available only through the Saks 2013 Holiday Catalog at a price of $89,500, including a $995 destination fee.

Cadillac is following in the footsteps of other high-end automakers that vie for a spot in luxury Christmas catalogs. The 2014 Aston Martin Vanquish Volante, for example, is a centerpiece of the 2013 Neiman Marcus Christmas fantasy catalog.

Just 100 of the 2014 Saks Fifth Avenue Special Edition Cadillac ELR will be built, all with White Diamond exterior paint. The White Diamond treatment is applied in a three-step process for maximum luster and is a $995 option on other GM vehicles. For the special edition's interior, buyers have the choice of Light Cashmere or Jet Black.

Also included with the Saks ELR are an upgraded 240-volt charging station with professional installation and all permits, which Cadillac says is worth up to $3,000, and dedicated ELR Concierge representatives to assist with everything from charging advice to service appointments and vehicle updates.

"Our partnership with Saks Fifth Avenue embraces the brand's sharp eyes for aesthetics, and puts the all-new 2014 ELR and the Cadillac brand front and center with buyers this holiday season," said Melody Lee, Cadillac director of brand reputation strategy, in a statement. "We are excited to be part of the Saks Holiday Catalogue and offer the limited-edition ELR exclusively to Saks customers."

The 2014 Cadillac ELR, which goes on sale in January, is an extended-range hybrid. Like the Chevy Volt, it has a gasoline engine that serves as a generator to recharge the batteries after they're depleted. GM says the ELR can travel about 35 miles on battery power alone, after which the gas engine kicks to provide more than 300 miles of total driving before the next fill-up.

Prices for a standard 2014 Cadillac ELR start at $75,995, including destination charge. But for extra-good little boys and girls, the Saks special edition may be worth the additional $13,500.

To order the special Cadillac ELR, customers can call 1-855-SAKS-CAD (1-855-725-7223). Delivery will begin in March.
