2016 Scion tC Release Series 10.0 Arrives at Dealerships in June: 2016 New York Auto Show

TORRANCE, California Scion is marking the end of an era with the tuner-inspired 2016 Scion tC Release Series 10.0 hatchback, which arrives at Scion dealerships in June, following a debut at the 2016 New York Auto Show.

The tC Release Series 10.0 with a six-speed manual transmission starts at $23,985, including a $795 destination charge. The uplevel tC Release Series 10.0 with a six-speed automatic transmission is priced at $25,135, including shipping.

"For those enthusiasts looking for a piece of history, this is a great opportunity to own our best tC ever," said Scion Vice President Andrew Gilleland in a statement on Wednesday.

Toyota will build 1,200 tC Release Series 10.0 cars.

Details include Barcelona Red exterior paint and a Kei Miura-designed aero kit with a front lip spoiler, rocker panels, rear lower spoiler and a deck spoiler.

Other details include TRD performance lowering springs and a performance dual exhaust.

The cabin gets a black-and-red theme and a Release Series sequentially numbered badge.

Key Scion tC competitors include the Ford Fiesta ST and Volkswagen Golf GTI.

Toyota is eliminating Scion, the brand aimed at the youth market.

Several 2017 Scion vehicles will be rebadged as Toyotas starting in August. They are the Scion FR-S coupe, Scion iA sedan and Scion iM hatchback.

But the tC will be discontinued. Production ends in August.

Edmunds says: This will be a collector's item in some circles, so it's best to get the conversation going with your Scion dealer if you want to get in line for one.
