2014-'15 Ford Fusion Recalled for Rollaway Risk

DEARBORN, Michigan Ford is recalling approximately 65,000 2014-'15 Ford Fusion sedans in North America because of a programming problem in the instrument cluster that could lead to a rollaway risk.

"This issue allows the key to be removed 30 minutes after the ignition is turned off, even if the transmission is not in Park," said Ford in a statement. "This is a compliance issue, a regulation involving theft protection and rollaway prevention."

Ford said it is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to the recall.

No information about the recall has been posted on the Web site of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which oversees vehicle safety in the U.S.

Ford dealers will reprogram the instrument cluster. The recall begins on January 5. Owners can contact Ford at 1-866-436-7332.

Edmunds says: Owners will have to wait until they get their formal recall notice before taking action. But if you are experiencing a problem with your car in the meantime, it's best to contact your dealer.
