CONROE, Texas — For its 45th anniversary in business, Gullo Auto Group is giving every high school in Montgomery County a gift straight from the showroom floor.
"We're leaving it up to the schools as to how they give it away because they know what's best for their school and their students," said Sparky Gullo, general manager of Gullo Ford and a company vice president.
The majority of schools are using the cars as an attendance incentive for students, as school attendance, which is directly related to funding, drops off as summer vacation inches nearer, Gullo told Edmunds.
"For each week of perfect attendance, for instance, students will receive one entry into the prize drawing for the car," Gullo explained. "The more they are there, the more chances they have."
Gullo and his family grew up in Montgomery County and wanted to thank the community for their business over the years.
"My father, Tony Gullo Sr., has a passion to help kids out, so the family thought supporting the schools was a good way to celebrate this 45th anniversary," he said.
He already knows the move will help secure future showroom visits by school families.
"A lot of people have stopped by, thanked us and said, 'I'm buying from you because you support my kid in school,' he said. Everyone is very appreciative."
The program ends in May.
Edmunds says: This community-minded effort is a great way to mark a special occasion.
