2015 Jeep Renegade Ad Campaign Features Indie Rock

AUBURN HILLS, Michigan — The 2015 Jeep Renegade is living up to its name, with a daring new advertising campaign that spotlights a Brooklyn indie rock band and is targeted at millennial car shoppers.

The 2015 Renegade is an all-new compact SUV that slots below the Jeep Cherokee in the brand's lineup and takes aim at the Mini Cooper Countryman, Nissan Juke and Subaru Impreza. The Renegade is on sale now at Jeep dealerships.

The campaign's first spot features an original song called "Renegades" by indie-rock band X Ambassadors.

"The spot captures the essence of the brand's iconic quest for a new definition of adventure," said FCA US in a statement on Friday.

The song's edgy lyrics are aimed at "the modern renegade."

"Long live the pioneers, rebels and mutineers, go forth and have no fear, come close and lend an ear," it says. "And I said hey, hey, hey, hey, living like we're renegades."

Other commercials will follow, including "Endurance Race" and "Beach," which highlight the Renegade's MySky Open-Air Roof System.

Edmunds says: An original song should appeal to sophisticated millennial buyers who don't buy into traditional advertising.
