A Sonata equipped with CarPlay will let the driver make calls, use maps, listen to music and access messages using voice commands, said Hyundai Motor America. It is accessed through the Voice button on the steering wheel or by using Siri.
CarPlay works with the iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c and iPhone 5 running the latest version of iOS 7.
Car shoppers should note that CarPlay will be available in models from Ferrari, Honda, Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz and Volvo. Apple promises future support for a range of other automakers, including Ford, Jaguar, Nissan, Subaru and Toyota.
The Sonata competes with the Ford Fusion, Honda Accord, Nissan Altima and Toyota Camry.
