2015 Mazda 3 Earns Five-Star Safety Rating From Federal Government

WASHINGTON The 2015 Mazda 3 earned the highest five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The 2015 Mazda 3 received five stars in front and side crash tests and four stars in the rollover crash test.

Both sedan and hatchback versions of the 2015 Mazda 3 receive the five-star rating.

The 2015 Mazda 3 has not been rated by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, but it was a 2014 Top Safety Pick+.

The five-passenger car was redesigned for the 2014 model year.

Standard safety features include electronic stability control, antilock brakes and daytime running lights. Optional safety features include lane-departure warning, forward obstruction warning and blind-spot monitoring.

Key competitors to the Mazda 3 include the 2014-'15 Ford Focus, Honda Civic, Kia Forte and Toyota Corolla.

Edmunds says: Car shoppers keeping score should know that the 2015 Kia Forte earned a four-star rating from NHTSA. The 2015 Ford Focus, Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla have not been rated, but the 2014 versions of those cars earned a five-star overall safety rating.
