NASHVILLE, Tennessee — The carryover 2014 Nissan Rogue Select, an entry-level model that slots below the redesigned 2014 Nissan Rogue, starts at $20,850, including an $860 destination charge.

The Nissan Rogue Select is on sale now.

When Nissan announced last year that it would offer two versions of the Rogue — the current-generation version and the redesigned version — it promised that the Rogue Select would have a base MSRP of less than $20,000. But it stopped short of announcing formal pricing. That pricing was recently posted on Nissan's vehicle configurator.

In comparison, the redesigned 2014 Rogue starts at $23,350, including shipping.

The automaker said, "There is an opening for a low-cost, high-content offering, which is a gap that the Rogue Select will fill."

The Rogue Select is built in Kyushu, Japan, while the 2014 Rogue is built in Smyrna, Tennessee.

The Rogue Select competes with entry-level versions of the Honda CR-V, Hyundai Tucson, Toyota RAV4 and others.

Edmunds says: The Rogue Select slots in at around $20,000, a critical price point for many car shoppers.
