2016 Subaru Forester, Legacy Co-Star With Canines in New Ad Campaign


CHERRY HILL, New Jersey — The new advertising campaign for the 2016 Subaru Forester SUV and 2016 Subaru Legacy sedan brings back the "Barkleys," a dog family intended to appeal to pet lovers.

The ads focus on the dogs' misadventures in the vehicles, including a date night in the Forester that is ruined by a cat valet driver.

The 2016 Forester and Legacy are on sale now at Subaru dealerships.

Subaru and its dealers often focus on pet-related activities, noting that eight out of 10 Subaru owners are pet owners.

The new "Dog Tested. Dog Approved." campaign is designed not only to create a warm-and-fuzzy feeling, but also to set the Japanese brand apart from its competitors.

The Subaru Forester targets the Ford Escape, Honda CR-V and Jeep Cherokee, while the Subaru Legacy takes on the Ford Fusion, Honda Accord and Toyota Camry.

The ads will be featured on February 7 during Puppy Bowl XII on Animal Planet.
