2015 Scion tC Earns Five-Star Safety Rating From Federal Government

TORRANCE, California — The 2015 Scion tC hatchback earned the top five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

On sale now at Scion dealerships, the 2015 tC earned four stars in the front crashworthiness test, five stars in the side crashworthiness test and four stars in the rollover crashworthiness test.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety named the 2015 tC a 2015 Top Safety Pick.

The tC received "good" ratings in all Institute crash tests and an "acceptable" rating in the small overlap front crash test. The test is designed to replicate what happens when the front corner of a vehicle collides with another vehicle or an object like a tree or utility pole.

Standard safety equipment on the 2015 tC includes eight airbags, antilock brakes, stability control and traction control.

Key competitors to the Scion tC include the Ford Fiesta ST and Volkswagen Golf GTI.

Edmunds says: Car shoppers should note that the 2015 Ford Fiesta earned a four-star overall safety rating from NHTSA. The 2015 Volkswagen Golf GTI has not been rated.
