2015 Scion FR-S Earns Five-Star Safety Rating From Federal Government

WASHINGTON — The 2015 Scion FR-S coupe earned the top five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The 2015 FR-S received four stars in the front crash test and five stars in the side and rollover crash tests.

The 2015 FR-S is on sale now at Scion dealerships.

Standard safety equipment includes six airbags, antilock brakes, traction control and vehicle stability control.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety said the 2015 FR-S is a 2014 Top Safety Pick. The 2015 FR-S received "good" scores in all Institute crash tests and an "acceptable" score in the small overlap front crash test. The test is designed to replicate what happens when the front corner of a vehicle collides with another vehicle or an object like a tree or utility pole.

Key FR-S competitors include the Ford Fiesta ST and Subaru BRZ.

Edmunds says: Car shoppers should note that the 2015 Ford Fiesta earned a four-star overall safety rating from NHTSA, while the 2015 Subaru BRZ earned a five-star overall safety rating.
