Mercedes-Benz Maybach Coupe Teased Ahead of 2016 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance

PEBBLE BEACH, California — A stunning Mercedes-Benz Maybach Coupe is expected to make its official debut at the 2016 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in late August.

The German automaker posted an Instagram photo of the car, which features a long hood and sleek lines, on Wednesday. The coupe is almost 20 feet long, according to the caption.

A Mercedes-Benz spokesman had no further comment on the photo and would not confirm production plans or pricing.

The Maybach Coupe likely will target such luxury vehicles as the Aston Martin Vanquish and Ferrari GTC4Lusso, along with high-end versions of the BMW 7 Series.

Earlier, Mercedes-Benz said it is reviving the Maybach name as part of a larger renaming strategy designed to provide customers and dealers with a simple way of navigating a growing portfolio of models.

The new 2016 Mercedes-Benz Maybach S600, an ultra-premium, extended-length sedan that is the top-of-the-line S-Class model, is on sale now at Mercedes-Benz dealerships. It is priced at $191,975, including a $925 destination charge and a $1,700 gas-guzzler tax, according to the Mercedes-Benz vehicle configurator.

Edmunds says: Mercedes-Benz whets the appetite of luxury shoppers in the mood for something different with a new coupe that is set to steal the spotlight at Pebble Beach.
