The voice-activated Blue Link Smartwatch app will allow Hyundai owners to remotely start and stop the engine, lock and unlock the doors, flash the lights and honk the horn. The app will also help the owner find the car in a parking lot and call roadside assistance.
"The app is easy to use," Hyundai said in a statement. "The wearer simply taps an icon or uses voice commands to execute remote functions."
The app must be paired via Bluetooth to the owner's smartphone that contains the Blue Link mobile app. At CES, Hyundai representatives will demonstrate the app on Samsung, Motorola, Sony and LG smartwatches. Android Wear users can download the app from Google Play for free starting in the first quarter of 2015.
Edmunds says: Gadget lovers will appreciate Hyundai's drive to provide owners with yet another way to interact with their vehicles.
