NASHVILLE, Tennessee — The revised 2016 Infiniti Q50 compact luxury sedan will add a new 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine for the new model year, Infiniti said in its 2016 model-year update.
The 2016 Q50 will arrive at Infiniti dealerships in early 2016. Pricing has not been announced.
More Q50 details, including enhanced powertrain and model offerings, will be announced in January at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show, the automaker said.
"We haven't announced specifics for model-year 2016 powertrains, but the (Infiniti Q50) hybrid will continue," wrote Infiniti spokesman Nick Twork in response to a query from Edmunds on Sunday.
The 2015 Q50 is offered in two powertrain configurations. The gasoline version is equipped with a 328-horsepower 3.7-liter V6 engine. The hybrid version features a 3.5-liter V6 engine, electric motor and lithium-ion battery.
The addition of the new, smaller engine makes the Q50 more competitive against key rivals, including the 2016 Cadillac ATS and BMW 3 Series. Those cars, as well as most others in the segment, can be ordered with 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engines.
Edmunds says: Car shoppers making plans for 2016 will get more engine choices with the 2016 Infiniti Q50.
