FOUNTAIN VALLEY, California — The 2017 Hyundai Tucson Fuel Cell SUV lease program remains unchanged for the new model year, Hyundai Motor America announced Tuesday.
The alt-fuel vehicle is available only in California at five Hyundai dealerships. They are Win Hyundai in Carson, Tustin Hyundai, Hardin Hyundai in Anaheim, Keyes Hyundai in Los Angeles and Capitol Hyundai in San Jose.
Customers can lease the 2017 Tucson Fuel Cell for $499 per month for a 36-month term, with a $2,999 down payment.
The lease deal includes unlimited complimentary hydrogen refueling and At Your Service Valet Maintenance. Customers get a free loaner vehicle when the Tucson Fuel Cell requires service.
The SUV is offered in three exterior color choices: Winter White, Hydro Blue and Chromium Silver.
The availability of the Tucson Fuel Cell will expand to other regions of the U.S. with the addition of more hydrogen refueling stations, Hyundai Motor America said in a statement.
The U.S. Department of Energy says there are 29 hydrogen refueling stations in the U.S., excluding private stations. They are located mainly in California.
The EPA has not rated the 2017 Tucson Fuel Cell.
The Toyota Camry-sized 2016 Toyota Mirai, a fuel-cell sedan, is a chief competitor to the Tucson Fuel Cell.
Edmunds says: Car shoppers should be aware that the Hyundai Tucson Fuel Cell is available to a limited audience due to the nascent hydrogen fuel-cell infrastructure in the U.S.
