2016 Toyota Tacoma Reveals Its Face Ahead of 2015 Detroit Auto Show

TORRANCE, California — Truck shoppers get their first look at the face of the 2016 Toyota Tacoma, as Toyota has released a second photo of the redesigned pickup truck today ahead of an unveiling at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show.

The hazy image shows the right front end of the 2016 Tacoma. The teaser photo hints at a more aggressive look for the truck, with narrower headlights and a more angular grille.

Design cues appear to be derived from the Toyota 4Runner SUV.

Previously, Toyota gave the curious a glimpse of the rear end of a 4x4 version of the 2016 Tacoma.

The wraps come off the 2016 Tacoma on January 12. The redesigned Tacoma is expected to arrive at Toyota dealerships sometime next year.

Pricing and technical specifications have not been announced.

Key competitors to the Tacoma include the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon and Nissan Frontier.

The redesigned 2016 Nissan Titan full-size pickup is also set for an unveiling at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, as trucks appear poised to be a major theme at the Motor City event.

Edmunds says: Expect the slow striptease of the Tacoma to continue in the run-up to the 2015 Detroit Auto Show.
