2015 Acura MDX Earns Five-Star Safety Rating From Federal Government

WASHINGTON — The 2015 Acura MDX earned the highest five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The MDX received five stars in the front and side crash tests and four stars in the rollover crash test.

The rating applies to front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions of the MDX.

The 2015 MDX is a carryover vehicle. The 2014 MDX is built on a new platform and has a new V6 engine.

While the 2015 MDX has not been rated yet by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the 2014 model is an IIHS 2014 Top Safety Pick+.  It scored "good" ratings in all IIHS crash tests.

Standard safety equipment on the 2015 MDX includes electronic stability control, antilock brakes, a rearview camera and seven airbags, including a driver's knee airbag.

Key competitors to the MDX include the 2014-'15 Audi Q7, BMW X5 and Volvo XC90.

Edmunds says: The 2015 Audi Q7, BMW X5 and Volvo XC90 have not been rated yet by NHTSA.
