AUBURN HILLS, Michigan — The 2014 Jeep Wrangler starts at $23,390, including a $995 destination charge, reflecting no price increase over the outgoing model.

The Wrangler Freedom Edition, which returns for 2014, starts at $29,090, including shipping. This model is based on the Sport S model and features sparkle silver-painted 17-inch alloy wheels, Mineral Gray-painted grille and front and rear bumper inserts, body-color wheel arches, "Oscar Mike" star-in-circle fender badges and a Sunrider soft top.

Jeep will will donate $250 from each Wrangler Freedom III it sells to the United Service Organizations Inc. or USO as part of the Jeep Operation Safe Return Initiative.

The top-of-the-line Rubicon X special edition starts at $36,090, including shipping. The Rubicon X is described as the "most capable Wrangler in the lineup." Details include a part-time four-wheel-drive system, a Rock-Trac transfer case and black front and rear steel off-road bumpers.

A new Wrangler Trail Kit features a tow strap, D-rings, gloves and a carrying bag.

Optional 32-inch tires can be ordered on the Sport model.

Wrangler competitors include the 2014 Nissan Xterra and Toyota FJ Cruiser.

Edmunds says: There's no price increase on the base Wrangler, a carryover model, and car shoppers have more choices, thanks to two special-edition models.
