The price includes an $875 destination charge.
Two high-end trim lines will be available, LT and Premier. The Premier is priced at $24,820, including shipping.
An RS package will be offered on the Cruze Hatchback. It adds sportier front and rear fascias, foglamps and 18-inch wheels. Pricing on the package will be announced closer to the car's launch date.
The small hatchback bears a family resemblance to the 2016 Cruze sedan, but adds a unique roof and rear end, including wraparound taillights and an integrated rear spoiler at the top of the liftgate.
In comparison, the base 2016 Cruze L sedan is priced at $17,495, including shipping.
The Cruze Hatchback is equipped with a standard 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with direct injection and fuel-saving stop-start technology. The EPA has not announced official fuel economy numbers on the Cruze Hatchback.
The hatchback segment is heating up, as previously reported by Edmunds.
Key Cruze Hatchback competitors include the Ford Focus hatchback, Hyundai Elantra GT and Mazda 3. A 2017 Honda Civic hatchback will round out the Civic lineup and arrive at Honda dealerships later this year.
Edmunds says: Car shoppers waiting for the Cruze Hatchback get some critical pricing information.
