2015 Subaru BRZ Earns Five-Star Safety Rating From Federal Government

WASHINGTON — The 2015 Subaru BRZ coupe earned the top overall five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The 2015 BRZ received four stars in the front crash test and five stars in the side and rollover crash tests.

The 2015 BRZ is on sale now at Subaru dealerships.

Standard safety equipment on the BRZ includes six airbags, vehicle stability control, antilock brakes, traction control and whiplash protection front seats.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety named the 2015 BRZ an IIHS 2015 Top Safety Pick. The 2015 BRZ received "good" scores in four IIHS crash tests and an "acceptable" score in the small overlap front crash test. The test is designed to replicate what happens when the front corner of a vehicle collides with another vehicle or an object like a tree or utility pole.

Key competitors to the BRZ include the Honda Civic Si, Hyundai Genesis Coupe and Scion FR-S.

Edmunds says: Car shoppers should note that the 2015 Honda Civic Si coupe earned a four-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The 2015 Hyundai Genesis coupe has not been rated by NHTSA. The 2015 Scion FR-S earned the top overall five-star safety rating from NHTSA.
