2015 Honda Fit Recalled To Fix A-Pillar Cover

WASHINGTONAmerican Honda Motor Co. is recalling 6,292 2015 Honda Fit cars to fix an A-pillar cover that could adversely affect the performance of the side curtain airbags, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The recall affects Fit cars built between April 11, 2014 and June 9, 2014.

"The affected vehicles may have been assembled with an A-pillar interior cover designed for vehicles without side curtain airbags,? said NHTSA in its summary of the problem. "The incorrect A-pillar interior cover may adversely affect the performance of the side curtain airbags, increasing the risk of occupant injury.?

No crashes or injuries have been linked to the recall, the company said.

The problem was discovered during quality inspections at the factory.

The faulty A-pillar interior cover is designed for vehicles sold in other markets and may have been installed on vehicles intended for sale in the U.S.

Dealers will install the correct cover. The recall is expected to begin on September 25. Owners can contact Honda at 1-800-999-1009.
