2006-'12 Land Rover Range Rover Recalled for Brake Hose Problem

WASHINGTON Jaguar Land Rover North America is recalling 74,648 2006-'12 Land Rover Range Rover SUVs to fix a brake hose problem, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

"One or both of the flexible front brake hoses may rupture, causing loss of brake fluid," said NHTSA in its recall summary. "If one or both of the flexible brake hoses fails, the vehicle may require a longer distance to stop, increasing the risk of a crash."

Jaguar Land Rover told federal safety regulators there has been one reported accident.

The affected SUVs were built from April 15, 2005 to September 4, 2012.

Land Rover dealers will replace the left and right front brake hoses. The recall is expected to begin on March 13. Owners can contact Land Rover customer service at 1-800-637-6837.

Edmunds says: Owners will have to wait until they receive their official recall notice before scheduling a service appointment. But if you have an immediate concern, it's best to contact your dealer now.
