ALAMEDA, California — Former NFL linebacker Thomas Howard was killed on Monday in a high-speed crash near his home in Alameda, California, according to media reports.

Howard and another driver were killed at the scene.

The California Highway Patrol did not respond immediately to a query about the collision from Edmunds.

Howard, 30, played five years for the Oakland Raiders.

Howard was remembered on Twitter.
