WHITLEY, England — The 575-horsepower Jaguar F-Type Project 7, the fastest and most powerful production Jaguar, will go on sale in mid-2015, the company confirmed on Tuesday.
Just 250 units of the two-seat roadster, the production version of last year's one-seat concept car, will be hand-built by Jaguar Land Rover's Special Operations team. This is the first Jaguar performance vehicle from the team. The company said the car is "fully road-legal."
Pricing was not announced.
The production version of the F-Type Project 7 will debut at the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed.
It is equipped with Jaguar's 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine and eight-speed Quickshift transmission and sprints from zero to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds. Standard Torque Vectoring by Braking, which improves handling, applies braking force to individual wheels.
The car's foldable cloth top can be removed and stowed. Other standard features include custom carbon-fiber aerodynamic components and carbon-ceramic brakes. Jaguar said U.S.-specification cars will feature a full windshield.
The car will be offered in five metallic colors: Ultra Blue, Caldera Red, British Racing Green, Ultimate Black and Glacier White. Twenty-inch Storm alloy wheels in gloss black round out the package.
The Jaguar F-Type is all new for 2014.
Edmunds says: Since Jaguar is putting a premium on exclusivity with the F-Type Project 7, it's best to begin the conversation now with your dealer on how to get your hands on one.
