2017 Audi A4 Ad Campaign Appeals to Brainy Car Shoppers

HERNDON, Virginia — The 2017 Audi A4 advertising campaign has a cerebral bent, pitching the redesigned sedan as the choice for intelligent car shoppers.

On sale now at Audi dealerships, the 2017 A4 is a "new breed of rock star," Audi of America said on Monday.

The car is a "symbol of a new era where smarter means better, brainier means sexier and knowledge trumps all," the German automaker said.

The campaign pits the A4 against such competitors as the BMW 3 Series, Cadillac ATS, Infiniti Q50 and Mercedes-Benz C-Class.

In addition to positioning the A4 as "one of the most intelligent cars on the road," the commercials highlight several of the car's features, including traffic jam assist and Apple CarPlay connectivity. Horsepower is not neglected, either.

The commercials will run throughout the NCAA March Madness men's basketball tournament.

The latest generation of the A4 sedan is larger, lighter and more aerodynamic than the outgoing model.

A4 buyers will have a choice of diesel or gasoline versions in the U.S. An upgraded 2.0-liter four-cylinder TFSI gasoline-powered A4 delivers 252 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. The 2.0-liter four-cylinder TDI diesel engine model delivers 190 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque.

All A4s are equipped with a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission and are available with front-wheel drive or Quattro all-wheel drive.

Edmunds says: Audi manages to work a little brawn into those brainy commercials, something that should appeal to a wide range of car shoppers.
