A father cleans out his family's old Forester, retrieving such items as a crayon and a wilted corsage, as he prepares to turn over the keys to his 16-year-old daughter. The chore triggers dreamlike memories of her childhood.
The music track in the spot is "Time Will Tell." It is written and performed by Gregory Alan Isakov.
"It's a car that stays in the family and is passed down from generation to generation," said Alan Bethke, Subaru vice president of marketing, in a statement.
This is the first television spot for the 2016 Subaru lineup, which also includes the 2016 Subaru Outback and Legacy.
Pricing has not been announced on the 2016 Forester. It is expected to arrive at dealerships this summer.
