2016 McLaren 650S Priced From $273,600; On Sale in December

NEW YORK — The 2016 McLaren 650S Coupe will be priced from $273,600, and the 650S Spider from $288,600, including a $4,100 destination charge, when the new models begin arriving at U.S. dealerships in December.

A McLaren spokesman confirmed to Edmunds that there is no gas-guzzler tax on the 2016 650S.

Although those prices reflect more than a $4,000 increase over the 2015 models, McLaren has sweetened the deal by adding a host of equipment that it says is worth $22,500.

Those additional goodies include a carbon-fiber front splitter, side skirts and intakes, rear bumper and mirror casings, as well as an interior carbon-fiber trim package and the choice of larger racing seats, all of which were optional equipment on previous models.

Buyers seeking to personalize their 650S further, now have an additional 10 colors to choose from, courtesy of McLaren Special Operations.

Additional options include the McLaren Enhanced Technology package, comprised of a front vehicle lifter, electric adjustable seats and steering column, Meridian surround sound system, parking sensors, back-up camera and car cover, for $9,950, and a soft-close door feature for $930.

Competition-minded buyers may want to consider the McLaren Track Telemetry App.

A $2,830 option, this system provides real-time data intended to improve track results by displaying information like lap times, sector splits, lap deltas and comparisons with other users, as well as post-drive analysis.

Another useful performance option is a set of Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires, designed specifically for McLaren road cars, for $1,300.

Key competitors to the McLaren 650S include the Ferrari 458 Italia and the Lamborghini Huracan.

Edmunds says: Consumers shopping in the lofty supercar market segment will want to look carefully at the 2016 McLaren 650S.
