Rokstad Ford Gets Ready for Old Man Winter With Giveaway

PONDERAY, Idaho Rokstad Ford's home town in northern Idaho, near Coeur d'Alene, can see up to 172 inches of snow in winter, so the dealer is cleverly holding a drawing for a snowblower.

To promote the drawing, the Ford dealer posted a Facebook video showing its mascot, "Riley the wonder dog," romping in the snow being thrown from a snowblower in the countryside. Riley is the general manager's pet, and he's gathering attention for the giveaway on Facebook.

Finance Manager Chantell McCurdy told Edmunds that "over 100" people have already come in to enter their names in the drawing.

"People will come in and do service on an older vehicle or maintenance on a friend's or employer's car," she said. "They'll enter the contest, and within a few days or weeks we often see them back in to look for a new car."

Customers are invited to come in to the dealership between now and December 13 to register, and one name will be drawn as the winner.

Rokstad Ford holds giveaways on a "semi-regular basis," McCurdy said.

"We have also given away cords of wood," she said, since many people in the naturally beautiful region "don't live exactly in town."

The Sears Craftsman brand 24-inch, 179-cc snowblower is parked in the showroom, next to a Ford F-150 pickup and a Ford Escape SUV, McCurdy said.

Rokstad Ford is located on the Pend Oreille River, near two national forests, and is about an hour's drive from Spokane, Washington.

Edmunds says: Here's a dealer that knows what its customers need.
