Jack Schmitt Chevrolet To Host Its First-Ever Rescue Dog Adoption Event

WOOD RIVER, Illinois Jack Schmitt Chevrolet is hosting its first pet adoption event, Doggy Days, on April 18 with pooches from Found A Hound Rescue.

The idea for the gathering originated after General Manager Tom Gerke adopted a dog from Found A Hound Rescue, a foster-based dog rescue nonprofit organization that rescues dogs one day prior to their being euthanized.

"I adopted a dog from Found A Hound and then they came in and bought a car from me," Gerke told Edmunds.

That second interaction led to a discussion of how the dealership could help the dogs, and Doggy Days was born.

"I know first-hand this is a great organization, so I hope a lot of people come check out the dogs, so we can find homes for them," he said.

Found A Hound recently earned the envy of the rescue dog industry when it had two of its puppies selected to appear on Animal Planet's Puppy Bowl in February.

Gerke is offering free refreshments and, appropriately themed hot dogs for guests.

"I'm not doing this to sell cars," he said. "I'm doing it to help the dogs."
