2018 Nissan Titan, Titan XD and Frontier Midnight Editions Debut

The 2018 Nissan Titan, Titan XD and Frontier pickups have been added to the popular Nissan Midnight Edition lineup.

The Midnight Edition packages are characterized by black wheels and a plethora of blacked-out exterior trim. A Nissan spokesperson told Edmunds: "Right now the trend is toward less chrome. Instead, low-gloss and high-gloss black finishes provide the contrast."

The 2016 Maxima SR was the first Nissan available in a Midnight Edition. According to Nissan, 85 percent of Maxima SR models that year were ordered with the special package, so the treatment was expanded to five additional models for the 2017 model year.

For 2018, Nissan has added Midnight Editions of the full-size Titan, the heavy-duty Titan XD and the midsize Frontier pickups. Other 2018 Nissan Midnight Edition models include the Altima, Maxima and Sentra sedans, and the Murano, Pathfinder and Rogue SUVs.

"Following the tremendous response to the original Maxima SR Midnight Edition, we've created a complete portfolio of the popular blacked-out Midnight Edition look among our core Nissan sedan, crossover and SUV models," said Billy Hayes, division vice president of Nissan Sales for Nissan North America. "We expect the strong customer appeal to continue with the expansion of the Midnight Edition package to our Titan, Titan XD and Frontier pickups."

The package for the Titan and Titan XD models adds blacked-out side mirrors, door handles, step rails, 20-inch alloy wheels, badging and front grille. Available exterior paint colors are Gun Metallic, Magnetic Black and Pearl White, set off by charcoal interior trim.

The Midnight Edition package can be ordered on Titan Crew Cab SV and SL trim levels, equipped with either two-wheel or four-wheel drive. On the Titan XD, the package is offered only on Crew Cab SV and SL 4x4 models with the optional Cummins 5.0-liter V8 diesel engine.

The smaller 2018 Frontier Midnight Edition comes with a gloss black grille, black side mirrors, door handles, step rails, 18-inch alloy wheels and special badging. The package will be available on Frontier Crew Cab SV models with an automatic transmission in either two-wheel- or four-wheel-drive configuration. Exterior colors are Glacier White, Gun Metallic and Magnetic Black.

"A great custom look straight from the factory is what buyers really appreciate," said Hayes. "We're finding that buyers in the millennial age group especially are attracted to the Midnight Editions."

Nissan says the new Midnight Edition pickups will be available in late fall. And although pricing has not been finalized, the package cost "is expected to provide customers with a significant discount versus if the items were purchased separately."
