DEARBORN, Michigan — Ford is recalling 177 2016 Ford F-650 and Ford F-750 commercial trucks in North America to fix a rear air brake chamber problem, the automaker said on Tuesday.
"The air brake jounce hoses could contact the vehicle's rear axle housing during vehicle operation, which could cause a leak and inadvertent application of the parking brake or diminished braking performance, increasing the risk of a crash," Ford said in a statement.
Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries linked to the recall.
The affected trucks were built from June 18, 2015 through November 15, 2015.
Ford told Edmunds that parts are expected to be available in the middle of the first quarter. Ford dealers will then install a rear brake air chamber replacement. Owners are expected to receive recall notifications the week of January 11. Those with any immediate concerns are told to contact their local dealership or contact Ford customer service at 1-800-392-3673.
No information about the recall has been posted on the website of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which oversees vehicle safety in the United States.
Edmunds says: Businesses using Ford's heaviest-duty trucks should keep their eye on their mailboxes for a recall notice.
